Readability formulas: An analysis into reading index of prose forms

Text comprehension will suffer if the readability level is not accessible to students. Readability formulas predict text complexity, assisting in appropriate selection that complements students’ reading abilities improve their language development. Therefore, study aims find out index of prose forms literature component catered lower secondary school students ages 13 and 14 years old Form One (seventh grade) Two (eighth classrooms Malaysia. The measured by using four which are Dale-Chall, Fog, SMOG, Flesch-Kincaid focuses on words, sentences, syllables, polysyllable words. These used difficulty forms. calculated from these reveals grade indicates best age for understanding were chosen as samples study. A passage each form be uploaded online tool. indices obtained predicted both below age. implicates must taken into consideration literary texts because it an indicator education individual requires comprehend clearly. Suitable material at can enhance learning teaching ESL classroom.
